Sourav Ganguly, known fondly as Dada in cricket circles, recently shared his enthusiasm for the newly released sports film ‘Maidaan,’ featuring Ajay Devgn. Ganguly encouraged fans to experience the cinematic journey of the movie, describing it as a captivating depiction of India’s renowned football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim, and the glorious era of Indian football. He highlighted the portrayal of iconic Indian football stars on the big screen, emphasizing the film’s significance in Indian sports cinema.

Director-producer Karan Johar also expressed anticipation for the film on Instagram, citing the positive buzz surrounding Ajay Devgn’s performance and the film’s overall acclaim.

‘Maidaan’ has received praise from both critics and audiences, earning Rs 2.75 crore by its second day and reaching a total of Rs 9.85 crore in earnings. The movie maintained an 8.81 percent occupancy rate in Hindi-speaking regions as of April 12.

Directed by Amit Sharma, ‘Maidaan’ unfolds as a biographical sports drama featuring Ajay Devgn as football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. The screenplay is a collaborative effort by Salwyn Quadras, Aman Rai, Atul Shahi, and Amit Sharma, with a cast including Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, Devyansh Tripathi, Boney Kapoor, Nitanshi Goel, and Aayesha Vindhara.

Producer Boney Kapoor expressed admiration for Syed Abdul Rahim’s legacy and hopes the film inspires a resurgence of interest in football among Indian youth, potentially leading to World Cup success for India in the future.
